Chandigarh, 15 May 2025 : The Mann government of Punjab has made a major announcement today stating that direct seeding of paddy (DSR) will begin in the state from today, 15 May. The government’s target for this Kharif season is to sow paddy using DSR technology on 5 lakh acres of land.
This step will directly benefit farmers. Farmers adopting the DSR technique will receive financial assistance of ₹1,500 per acre. Additionally, farmers growing Basmati paddy can also avail ₹1,500 per acre assistance through the DSR method.
It is noteworthy that last year, DSR was adopted on 2.53 lakh acres of land, marking a 47% increase compared to 2023. So far in 2024, assistance amounting to ₹29.02 crore has been provided to 21,338 farmers.
