Punjab Government Announces Special Diwali Gift for Citizens

Ludhiana 29 September 2025: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Cabinet has taken several significant decisions to boost the state’s economy and encourage a business-friendly environment. This is being considered a big Diwali gift for the business community. The information was shared at the local Circuit House by State Secretary of the Trade Cell, Sahil Aggarwal.

State Secretary of the Trade Cell, Dharmendra Singh Ruparia, said that in order to settle pending cases and provide relief to industries, the One-Time Settlement Scheme (OTS) has been approved. The scheme will remain in effect from October 1 to December 31.

Under this scheme, in cases involving up to ₹1 crore, there will be a 50% waiver on the tax amount and a 100% waiver on interest and penalties. For dues up to ₹25 crore, relief will be provided according to different categories, while in cases exceeding ₹25 crore, a 10% waiver on the tax amount and a 100% waiver on interest and penalties will be applicable.

Rural Trade Wing President Parmpal Singh Bawa stated that the OTS scheme has also been approved for rice mill owners. This will help revive ‘sick’ mills, create more employment opportunities, and ensure that farmers receive timely benefits during the Kharif season.

City Trade Wing President Rohit Verma added that the Punjab Cabinet has also approved the GST Amendment Bill to make compliance easier and provide convenience to taxpayers.
