Punjab, 8 July 2025 : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Cabinet has taken a significant step by giving the green light to provide job security to two employees. Reviewing a decision made by the then cabinet on December 5, 2016, the Cabinet approved service protection for 22 individuals working against 37 sanctioned permanent posts at the Rural Vocational Training Institute, Badal.
As per the advice of the Finance Department and the Department of Personnel, this move will relieve the department/government from long-standing legal complications and will also secure the future of these 22 employees working at the institute.
Approval to Amend the Punjab State Development Tax Act-2018 to Launch O.T.S. Scheme
The Cabinet also approved an amendment to the Punjab State Development Tax Act-2018 and redefinition of the word “salary” under the Punjab GST Act to broaden the tax base and introduce a One-Time Settlement (O.T.S.) scheme.
Taxpayers will be able to choose the option of a lump-sum payment, which will simplify compliance and improve the recovery process. The O.T.S. has been approved by adding Section 11A, new Sections 11B, 11C, and 11D to resolve pending tax liabilities in cases of death, company dissolution, liquidation, and other matters.
