Punjab Government Bus Strike Disrupts Commuters, Passengers Demand Resolution

Budhlada  9 July 2025 : Due to the strike by contractual employees at the PRTC depot in Budhlada city, bus services were completely halted today. The protesting contractual employees raised slogans against the corporation and the government.

Their primary demand is that contractual employees should be made permanent.

They are also demanding that buses operating under the kilometer scheme should be discontinued and the number of government buses should be increased.

They insist that the long-pending legitimate demands of contractual employees be implemented immediately. The protest and bus blockade continued throughout the day in support of these demands.

Meanwhile, passengers traveling to distant places were seen troubled inside the bus stand, unable to find transport.

A two-hour strike by contractual staff of Punjab Roadways, PUNBUS, and PRTC left passengers stranded in cities like Jalandhar, Ferozepur, and Fazilka. They demand regularization, better wages, and additional buses, with promises of a three-day strike looming if ignored
