Chandigarh 12 march 2025 : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government today gave a grand welcome to President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, who is on an official visit to the state.
Welcoming the President during a program at the Indian School of Business, the Chief Minister stated that her visit marks a golden day in the history of Punjab, and every Punjabi is immensely delighted on this occasion. He extended a warm welcome to the President on the sacred land of Punjab, home to great Gurus, saints, and spiritual leaders. Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed hope that the President would experience the heartfelt hospitality of Punjabis and witness the state’s rich cultural heritage during her visit.
The Chief Minister mentioned that President Murmu attended an event at the Central University of Bathinda today and would participate in the convocation ceremony of Panjab University on Wednesday. He emphasized that her visit to these prestigious educational institutions would inspire students to work hard and remain dedicated to their goals. Bhagwant Singh Mann remarked that President Murmu’s life journey is an inspiration to all, as she has overcome significant challenges at both personal and professional levels.
He further stated that Smt. Droupadi Murmu has reached great heights in life through hard work, vision, and commitment. He compared her remarkable achievements to global leaders like former U.S. President Abraham Lincoln, adding that her visit is a proud and memorable moment for Punjab. The Chief Minister affirmed that the entire state is extending a grand welcome to the President during her visit and that the Punjab government feels honored to host her on this sacred land.

The Chief Minister highlighted that Punjab’s hardworking and progressive farmers have made the country self-sufficient in food production. Along with being the nation’s food provider, Punjab also takes pride in being the country’s stronghold of defense. Bhagwant Singh Mann noted that Punjabis are known worldwide for their courage, resilience, and enterprising spirit.
He also mentioned that the land of five rivers has witnessed several historic moments, and today’s event adds another chapter to its rich legacy.
Earlier in the program, Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha welcomed the distinguished guests.
The event was attended by Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice Sheel Nagu, Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, and several other dignitaries.
