Punjab Govt Launches ₹5 Crore Development Scheme for Each Constituency

Punjab 15 May 2025 : The Punjab government has taken a major initiative to solve the problem of stubble burning. This move will not only help curb stubble burning but also benefit both farmers and industries. Under this scheme, stubble will now be used to produce fuel for industries. To support this, industries that install stubble-based boilers will receive subsidies worth crores of rupees.

Speaking on the matter, Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Sondh said that this step by the Punjab government is aimed not only at keeping the environment clean but also at providing significant economic benefits to both the state’s industries and farmers. He said that this initiative will help protect the environment and increase farmers’ income. In addition, industries setting up stubble-based boilers will receive substantial subsidies.

The state government has implemented a new Capital Subsidy Scheme. Under this scheme, a subsidy of up to ₹1 crore will be given for the installation of every 8 TPH (tonnes per hour) boiler. This is expected to help curb pollution caused by stubble burning. The government has appealed to industries using oil, coal, and other biomass to avail themselves of this scheme at the earliest. For the first time in Punjab, industries using stubble will be eligible for subsidies of up to ₹5 crore.

Summary:
Under the Rangla Punjab Vikas Scheme, the Punjab government will provide ₹5 crore annually to each assembly constituency for local development and infrastructure projects.
