Punjab Govt’s Major Step to Deliver Public Services at Home

Jalandhar  09 June 2025 : The Punjab Government is taking a major step toward digitizing the functions of its Revenue Department and providing services to people from the comfort of their homes. After the successful implementation of the “e-Registration” system, four key services of the Revenue Department are now also being moved online. This move will not only provide relief to the general public but also help reduce crowding in government offices and curb corruption.

The objective of this online initiative is to ensure transparencyconvenience from home, and a simplified application process. Citizens will no longer have to run to Patwaris, Kanungos, or Tehsil offices for minor tasks.

Revenue Department Services Going Online:

  1. Mutation based on inheritance
  2. Mutation based on registered deeds
  3. Record correction (Fard Badar)
  4. Request for report (Raput ki Vinti)

Digital Training Session Started from Chandigarh

A comprehensive training session on this initiative was held in Chandigarh on Sunday. The training took place in two phases and included all Fard Centers, Sewa Kendras, Technical Assistants, District Managers, and Assistant System Managers. Conducted in morning and afternoon sessions, the training covered all aspects related to digitization of these four services.

Outsourced Staff to Process Digital Forms

The main objective of the training was to explain how applications submitted from home via mobile or computer can be processed within a set timeframe. Detailed procedures were shared with all staff to ensure a smooth online system and timely service delivery to the public.

“e-Registration” Became the Foundation for Change

Earlier this month, the government launched the “e-Registration” service at the Mohali Sub-Registrar/Tehsildar office, allowing appointments, document uploads, and feedback processes to be completed online. As a result, the registry process became easier, faster, and free from corruption.

Now, based on this success, the Revenue Department’s services are also being digitized. The trust and transparency established by e-Registration will now be extended to inheritance-based mutations and other services.

Major Benefits to Citizens:

  • Time-saving: People in rural and urban areas will no longer need to visit Patwaris or Tehsils repeatedly.
  • Reduction in corruption: The online process leaves no scope for bribery or unnecessary document inspections.
  • Application tracking: Citizens can check the status of their applications online, reducing uncertainty.
  • System-based appointments: Citizens will only be called when necessary, and that too on a fixed date and time.

Key Focus Areas for Staff During Training:

  • How to use the online portal
  • Verification and validation of Fard (property records)
  • Standards for scanning and uploading documents
  • Ensuring timely service delivery
  • Communication with applicants and using the feedback system

Summary:
The Punjab government has launched a home-based service initiative to ensure citizens can access key government services without visiting offices.
