As per the Ministry of Home Affairs’ directives, a blackout was implemented in the sensitive border district of Fazilka from 10:00 PM to 10:30 PM last night. As soon as the siren sounded at 10:00 PM, people in the city turned off all lights in their homes. Even lights running on inverters were switched off, plunging the entire city into darkness.
During this time, PSPCL (Punjab State Power Corporation Limited) cut the power supply. Although the administration had made extensive efforts to spread awareness about the blackout, some people were seen outside in neighborhoods and a few were found using vehicles during the initial minutes. At the end of the blackout period, the siren sounded again, after which people turned their lights back on.
Summary: Punjab has introduced a dedicated emergency number, urging citizens to call immediately when in need of urgent help or assistance.
