4 Aug 2025 : The Punjab government has decided to take its decisive battle against drugs to the next phase under the “Yudh Nashe Viruddh” (War Against Drugs) campaign. As part of this move, Defense Committees will be formed in every village and ward across the state to strengthen the fight against drug abuse. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann launched this initiative today from Ludhiana.
According to the information, the government has now decided to establish these defense committees at the village and ward levels to ensure the complete eradication of drugs. The number of members in each committee will be determined based on the population—a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 members per committee.
Retired soldiers, teachers, and village heads (numberdars) will be given top priority in these committees. All members will be responsible for playing an active role in eliminating drug use from their respective areas.
