Punjab Opens ₹8.25 Cr Old-Age Home with Free Facilities

Tapa, 2 July 2025 : An old age home has been constructed here by the Punjab Government at a cost of approximately ₹8.25 crore, which was recently inaugurated by the government. The elderly residents are being provided with excellent care and facilities.

This was stated by Deputy Commissioner of Barnala, Mr. T. Banith, IAS, during his visit to Baba Phool Government Old Age Home. During the visit, he interacted with the elderly residents regarding the various free facilities being provided, including food, cleanliness, and medical services.

Afterward, he held a meeting with officials from various departments and emphasized the importance of continuing the high standard of services at the old age home in the future. He instructed officials from the PWD and other concerned departments to visit the old age home every 15 days to ensure that any required repairs and maintenance can be carried out promptly.

On this occasion, District Social Security Officer Madam Teavaspreet Kaur informed that eight elderly residents are currently living in the home, and they are being provided with quality food, clothing, medicines, and other necessary facilities.

One of the residents, Gulzar Singh, expressed his gratitude to the Punjab Government, saying that he has no family support and is being well cared for at the old age home, with proper food, accommodation, and other amenities provided three times a day.

Another resident, Malkeet Kaur, shared that the entire staff is taking excellent care of the elderly and thanked the Punjab Government and District Administration for initiating this effort for the support of homeless elders.

Also present during the visit were SDM Tapa Madam Simarpreet Kaur, PWD Executive Engineer Davinder Pal Singh, Dr. Kamaljeet Bajwa from the Health Department, and officials and staff from various departments.
