Chandigarh, January 2, 2025: Due to increasing cold weather and considering the safety of students and teachers, the Punjab government has extended the school holidays until January 7. However, to ensure that students’ studies are not impacted during exam days, schools have adopted an online class system.
Schools believe that while government orders will be implemented, students’ studies will not be affected. According to reports, many schools were scheduled to reopen on January 1 after winter holidays. However, the government’s sudden decision has increased the burden on principals. CBSE and ICSE exams will begin on February 15. In recognized schools, exams for 10th and 12th grades will start from February 13. Before this, schools usually conduct pre-board exams to assess students’ performance and address any subject-related shortcomings on time.
Schools had already prepared their schedules, but after the holiday extension decision, changes are necessary. Some schools had planned farewell parties for 12th-grade students before the exams, but the dates are now being adjusted. Meanwhile, some schools, anticipating cold weather, had declared holidays from January 1, based on past records. These schools have completed one phase of their pre-board exams and decided to conduct the second phase from January 15. Regarding online classes, many parents now face a new issue, especially those with only one mobile phone for two children. Working parents are concerned that if one child’s studies are affected due to this, the school may take action. As a result, working parents are considering taking time off to ensure their children can attend online classes.
Summary: Due to extended holidays, schools adjusted schedules. Some parents face challenges with online classes, especially those with one mobile for multiple children, considering taking time off.
