Punjab Sewa Kendras Launch 363 New Services for Public Convenience

Barnala 16 June 2025: Advancing the Punjab Government’s e-governance initiative, 6 new services from the Revenue Department and 29 new services from the Transport Department are now being made available to the general public through Sewa Kendras. In this regard, Barnala Deputy Commissioner T. Benith informed that these services will offer transparency, save time, and provide convenience to citizens.

Digital Property Records Now Available at Sewa Kendras

Among the 6 services introduced by the Revenue Department, the foremost is the availability of digital property records (fard). This document can now be obtained directly from Sewa Kendras and will also be sent to citizens via WhatsApp on their mobile phones. This will eliminate the need for repeated visits to government offices.

Under the second service, citizens can now apply for inheritance-based property transfers (virasati inteqal) at Sewa Kendras. The third service allows applications for property transfers based on registered wills. The fourth service enables citizens to request corrections or new entries in property records.

Facilities for Loan and Court-Related Reports

The fifth service provides the option to enter reports needed for taking loans or for court cases. The sixth service is a “Subscription Service”, where citizens can register their land records with the Sewa Kendra. As soon as any transaction or change is made to that land record, the citizen will immediately receive a notification via WhatsApp and email.

29 Transport Department Services Also Available at Sewa Kendras

District Manager of Sewa Kendras, Barnala, Manjeet Sharma, and DTC Sanjay Ahuja informed that 29 services from the Transport Department—such as driving license renewal, duplicate license issuance, address change, and vehicle registration—are now also available at Sewa Kendras.

To enhance public convenience, a new facility has also been introduced: by dialing 1076, any citizen can schedule a time as per their preference, and a Sewa Kendra representative will visit their home to provide the required service. An additional fee of just ₹50 will be charged for this home visit service.

Summary:
Sewa Kendras in Punjab now offer 406 services, including licenses, passports, and verifications, ensuring faster, doorstep access and greater benefits for citizens.
