Chandigarh, 12 June 2025: Due to the Mann government’s commitment to better governance, the Punjab Transport Department has earned an additional revenue of ₹5,375.65 crore during 2022–2025 compared to 2019–2022. This is being seen as a clear indicator of the state government’s improved administrative performance. Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar shared this information, stating that the non-commercial wing of the Punjab Transport Department – PUNBUS, Punjab Roadways, and PEPSU – has shown significant growth in revenue collection, highlighting the department’s financial improvement efforts.
The minister mentioned that in the last three years, the department’s non-commercial wing (STC) has generated a total revenue of ₹9,037.49 crore. In contrast, during the previous Congress government’s tenure (2019–2020, 2020–2021, and 2021–2022), the revenue earned was ₹5,825.38 crore. Reiterating the government’s commitment to good governance, he stated that an additional ₹3,212.11 crore has been collected during 2022–2025 – a record achievement.
He further said that PUNBUS and Punjab Roadways together earned ₹2,323.21 crore during 2022–2025, compared to ₹1,332.03 crore in 2019–2022, reflecting an increase of ₹990.91 crore.
The minister added that PEPSU Road Transport Corporation generated ₹2,894.15 crore in revenue during 2022–2025, as compared to ₹1,721.52 crore during 2019–2022, marking an increase of ₹1,172.63 crore.
Minister Bhullar emphasized that this impressive growth reflects the department’s dedication to improving its revenue collection methods. He noted that Punjab is continuously moving toward overall development due to the honest efforts of the state government. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the government has been working for the past three years to realize the vision of a “Rangla Punjab” (Vibrant Punjab).
