Vancouver, May 15, 2025 : Punjabi businessman Harjeet Singh Dhadda (50) was shot dead near Derry Road and Telford Way in Mississauga. The suspects fled the scene. While the police have not officially disclosed the identity of the deceased, sources at the scene confirmed that Harjeet Singh Dhadda was shot 15–16 times by unidentified assailants as he approached his vehicle outside his office. The attackers had been lying in wait. People present in the parking lot fled in panic. Dhadda was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries.
Police spokesperson Michael Stafford stated that the case has been handed over to investigators. CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being reviewed to identify the suspects. An eyewitness reported: “I was standing a bit far when the shooter came out of a parked car, fired multiple shots, and fled in the same vehicle.”
An employee of a nearby law firm revealed that a bullet had struck an empty chair in their office; the employee had just gotten up from that chair moments earlier, which saved their life. This incident marks the sixth murder in Mississauga since the start of this year, causing widespread fear in the community.
According to sources, Harjeet Singh Dhadda hailed from a farming background in Bajpur district, Uttarakhand, and had moved to Canada around 30 years ago. He was a successful businessman in the trucking support services sector. Close acquaintances disclosed, on condition of anonymity, that Dhadda had been receiving death threats for some time, and Peel Police had also warned him to remain cautious. He had reportedly been distressed in recent times due to threatening calls from Indian phone numbers.
