Hoshiarpur, 26 Aug 2025 : District Planning Committee Chairperson Karamjit Kaur said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has transformed the anti-drug campaign “War Against Drugs” into a people’s movement. Thanks to the government’s farsighted vision and concrete measures, strict action is being taken against drug traffickers, while successfully involving common people in the campaign.
She said that the Punjab Government’s initiative, the Safe Punjab WhatsApp Chatbot Helpline (9779100200), is providing citizens the facility to share information anonymously. Karamjit Kaur added that under the state government’s three-pronged strategy – enforcement, de-addiction, and prevention – a total of 17,373 FIRs have been registered so far and 26,995 drug traffickers have been arrested. The seizure of large quantities of heroin, opium, poppy husk, charas, ganja, and drug money is proof of the Punjab Government’s strong willpower under the leadership of the Chief Minister.
She further said that as part of CM Mann’s vision to involve people, the police have organized outreach meetings and interactions with students, giving youth and social organizations the opportunity to participate in this fight.
