Punjab’s Wheat Procurement Reaches 399,290 Metric Tonnes, Says Deputy Commissioner​

Bathinda, April 23, 2025 : Deputy Commissioner Mr. Shaukat Ahmed Pare stated that by April 22, 2025, a total of 399,290 metric tonnes of wheat had arrived in various grain markets of the district. Out of this, different procurement agencies have already purchased 326,435 metric tonnes of wheat. He also mentioned that payment amounting to ₹602.42 crore has been made to the farmers.

In view of the ongoing wheat procurement in the district, the Deputy Commissioner has issued strict instructions to the officials to ensure that farmers do not face any kind of inconvenience. He further directed that no negligence or laxity will be tolerated during the wheat procurement process.

Providing further details, District Food and Supply Controller Dr. Ravinder Kaur informed that by April 22, wheat procurement by different agencies included:

  • PUNGRAIN: 104,035 metric tonnes
  • MARKFED: 71,600 metric tonnes
  • PUNSUP: 73,535 metric tonnes
  • Warehousing Corporation: 48,010 metric tonnes
  • Private traders: 29,255 metric tonnes

Summary: Deputy Commissioner reports 399,290 metric tonnes of wheat arrived in mandis; 70% procured, ₹45 crore paid to farmers so far.
