Sri Anandpur Sahib, 26 Sep 2025 : Punjab’s youth have played a vital role in the progress and prosperity Chardi Kala of the state. Whether in times of natural calamities like floods or in sports competitions, the youth of Punjab have always stepped forward and brought glory to the state. During the floods, local youth played a crucial role in strengthening river embankments and protecting religious places, and today, as life returns to normal, these same youth are stepping into sports arenas, symbolizing Punjab’s resilience and vitality. The sports festivals of our state truly reflect the spirit of progress, prosperity, and health, and the organizations that arrange these events also deserve appreciation.
These views were expressed by S.Harjot Singh Bains, Cabinet Minister for Education and Information & Public Relations, while addressing a large and impressive gathering after interacting with players at the second Chhinjh Festival organized by the Naujawan Singh Sabha Club at Gara. He said that sports must be made an inseparable part of life for physical and mental fitness. Sports instill discipline, and the lively atmosphere in sports grounds reflects the right guidance received by Punjab’s youth.The Punjab Government has taken significant initiatives to encourage young people towards sports. Special arrangements have been made by Chief Minister S.Bhagwant Singh Mann for the development of players and sports.
S.Bains added that sports arenas create an atmosphere of harmony, and Punjab has given the country many renowned international-level players who have brought honor to India across the world. He further said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government is making notable efforts to encourage youth towards sports.
The Sports Department is working towards identifying talent, creating a pro-sports environment, spreading health awareness, and promoting harmony and brotherhood. The government has made remarkable efforts to further enhance Punjab’s status in sports. More importantly, today, every village in Punjab is buzzing with sports activities. Sports clubs, social organizations, religious institutions, and village committees are organizing major sports festivals, which is a matter of pride. Today, Punjab’s players are bringing honor to the state across the nation.
S.Bains said that rural sports festivals are symbols of our heritage and culture, and youth should show even greater interest in sports, making them an inseparable part of their lives. The Punjab Government is continuously working to upgrade sports grounds to top standards. He added that today, our youth are moving away from drugs and turning towards sports, fulfilling the government’s special mission against drugs. Hundreds of youth are showcasing their skills in sports, wrestling, and traditional competitions, symbolizing Punjab’s healthy and prosperous youth. Mr. Bains also announced a grant of 51,000 to the Naujawan Singh Sabha Club.
On this occasion, Sarpanch Manmohan Singh, President Harbhajan Singh Vicky, Kuldeep Singh, Gurnam Singh, Balveer Singh, Ravi Pal, Sarabjit Singh, Avtar Singh, Jora, Jashan, Rajinder, Gulshan Kumar Panch, Daljit Panch, Jaimal Panch, Husn, Honey Dhiman, Harjinder Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Charan Singh, Gulzar Singh, Kaka, Ashok, Ashman, and a large number of villagers and party workers were present.
