Barnala, April 21 : Under the campaign “Our Elders, Our Pride” launched by the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, a government old age home has been established at Tapa in district Barnala. The facility was formally inaugurated recently by the Minister of Social Security, Women and Child Development, Dr. Baljit Kaur.
Providing details, Deputy Commissioner of Barnala, Mr. T. Banith, stated that the old age home, started on Khattar Patti, Dhillwan Road, Tapa, currently houses 7 elderly residents, who are living comfortably.
He further explained that accommodation, food, and medical facilities are provided free of cost to the residents. In addition, a separate day-care building has also been set up where elderly people from nearby areas can spend their day in a pleasant environment.
To take care of the elderly, the old age home has been staffed with a superintendent, clerical staff, cook, sanitation workers, security guards, and others. Medical facilities are also being provided as needed.
On this occasion, District Social Security Officer of Barnala, Dr. Teavaspreet Kaur, informed that any needy elderly person wishing to reside in the old age home can visit the District Social Security Officer’s office located in the Tehsil Complex of the District Administrative Complex, Barnala, or their respective Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) office in their block with their Aadhaar card to complete the registration process.
