Faridkot, October 9: District Magistrate Faridkot Rahul Chaba, IAS, has issued various prohibitory orders across Faridkot district by exercising the powers vested in him under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. These orders will remain in force until December 2, 2026.
Ban on Aerial Firing at Marriage Palaces and Public Functions
The District Magistrate stated that aerial firing is often carried out by members of the public during weddings, social and religious functions, public gatherings and events at marriage palaces. Such acts pose a risk of loss of life and property.
In view of these risks, aerial firing has been prohibited throughout Faridkot district at weddings, social and religious functions, public gatherings, protests, rallies, marriage palaces and similar events. The ban will remain in force until December 2, 2026.
Ban on the Sale, Storage and Use of China Kite String
The District Magistrate has imposed a complete ban on the sale, storage and use of China kite string within the limits of Faridkot district.
He explained that China string is widely used for flying kites. Unlike traditional cotton thread, it is made of plastic and is extremely strong. Its use has led to incidents in which kite flyers suffer cuts to their hands and fingers, while cyclists and scooter riders sustain injuries to their necks and ears. The string can also prove fatal to human beings and harmful to animals and birds.
Keeping these dangers in mind, the District Magistrate has prohibited the sale, storage and use of China kite string throughout the district. The ban will remain in force until December 2, 2026.
Ban on Hookah Bars and Hookah Smoking in Public Places
Through another order, the District Magistrate has prohibited hookah bars within the limits of Faridkot district. Smoking hookah has also been completely prohibited in shops, hotels, restaurants and other public places across the district.
This prohibition will remain in force until December 2, 2026.
Ban on the Purchase, Sale and Use of Military-Coloured Uniforms and Vehicles, and on the Installation of Hoardings
District Magistrate Rahul Chaba has imposed a complete ban on the purchase, sale and use of military-coloured uniforms and vehicles by the general public within the boundaries of Faridkot district.
Additionally, the installation of hoardings on public roads and at intersections within the limits of municipal committees in the district has been prohibited. Hoardings displaying government works are exempt from this restriction.
These orders will remain in force until December 2, 2026.
Ban on Unregistered Ambulances
District Magistrate Rahul Chaba has also prohibited the operation of unregistered ambulances in Faridkot district.
He stated that many ambulances in the district operate without permits and are not officially registered as ambulances. Several of these vehicles lack even the basic facilities required for patients, offering little more than a makeshift platform or board on which a patient can lie down.
Such vehicles put patients’ lives at risk. In addition, owners and drivers of these ambulances may charge poor patients arbitrary fares, resulting in financial exploitation. This also causes resentment among operators of registered ambulances and may increase the likelihood of disputes, potentially disturbing law and order.
In view of these concerns, the District Magistrate has imposed a ban on unregistered ambulances in the district. The prohibition will remain in force until December 2, 2026.
