Fazilka, September 7, 2026:
A Sakhi Samman Ceremony was organized in Fazilka with great enthusiasm and fervor. A large number of women from the Fazilka constituency attended the event and marked their presence.
The event was organized under the leadership of Fazilka MLA S. Narinderpal Singh Sawna and his wife, Madam Khushboo Sawansukha Sawna. During the ceremony, respected Sakhis who had contributed and provided assistance in the registration process for the Chief Minister Mothers-Daughters Samman Scheme were felicitated.
The main objective of the event was to honor the Sakhis and encourage women towards becoming self-reliant. On the occasion, MLA S. Narinderpal Singh Sawna said that women are the backbone of society and that the development of society is not possible without their respect and empowerment.
He said that the state government has launched the Chief Minister Mothers-Daughters Samman Scheme for the welfare of women. Under this scheme, women belonging to the General Category are provided ₹1,000 per month, while women belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community are provided ₹1,500 per month.
Along with this, the government is also implementing several other schemes for the welfare and empowerment of women.
MLA Sawna further stated that the government is continuously working to provide respect, security and self-reliance to mothers and daughters.
Madam Khushboo Sawansukha Sawna thanked all the women who attended the event and said that women today are progressing in every field shoulder to shoulder with men. She urged women to remain aware of their rights.
She said that the Aam Aadmi Party government is the first government in Punjab to launch the Mothers-Daughters Samman Scheme and take concrete steps towards honoring and supporting women.
Several prominent personalities from the area, party workers, and a large number of women leaders from the Mahila Wing were also present on the occasion.
