New Delhi 26 Aug 2025: If you are an account holder of the State Bank of India (SBI), this information is extremely important for you. In view of the increasing cases of online fraud across the country, SBI has issued an important warning to its customers. The bank stated that fraudsters are pretending to be bank officials to obtain confidential information from customers, but SBI has clearly mentioned which numbers its genuine calls come from—so that you don’t fall into the trap of scammers.
SBI calls only come from these series
Through its social media platforms, SBI has clarified that its customer service centers make calls only from numbers starting with ‘1600’ or ‘140’. That means if you receive a call from these two series, it can be considered a genuine SBI call. Any other call coming from mobile or landline numbers should be treated with caution—no matter what designation the caller claims to hold.
Be alert against such calls
If someone calls you from an unknown number asking for banking details—like your account number, OTP, debit card details, password, or PIN—do not share any information. SBI has reiterated that the bank never asks for such sensitive details over the phone.
Where to report in case of fraud?
If unfortunately you become a victim of cyber fraud or receive a suspicious call, immediately contact the National Cyber Crime Helpline number 1930. Timely reporting can prevent fraud and secure your finances.
Important points to remember:
- Never share your OTP or password with anyone
- Do not click on unknown links
- If you receive a suspicious call, note down the number and report it
- Treat calls as genuine SBI calls only if they come from the 1600 or 140 series
Summary:
State Bank of India alerts customers that genuine calls come only from specified numbers, urging vigilance against fraudulent calls and scams.
