Smooth Wheat Procurement and Lifting in District Markets: Deputy Commissioner

Bathinda, April 30 : The procurement and lifting of wheat in the district markets are continuing smoothly. This information was shared by Deputy Commissioner Shri Shaokat Ahmad Pare while presiding over a meeting with officials regarding the procurement arrangements.

On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the officials to accelerate the ongoing wheat procurement and lifting process in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that there should be no issues regarding drinking water, cleanliness, or any other necessary arrangements for farmers in the markets. He also directed officials to ensure that there is no slackness or negligence during the wheat procurement process.

He mentioned that as of April 29, 2025, a total of 744,637.50 metric tons of wheat had arrived in various district grain markets, out of which different procurement agencies had already purchased 702,732 metric tons. Additionally, farmers have been paid ₹1,493.88 crore for their wheat.

Further details were shared by District Food and Supply Controller Dr. Ravinder Kaur, who informed that as of April 29, the wheat purchased by various agencies was as follows: 220,471 metric tons by Pangreen, 149,748 metric tons by Markfed, 160,495 metric tons by Punsap, 117,998 metric tons by Warehouses, and 54,020 metric tons by private traders.
