Ferozepur 06 June 2025 : Exercising the powers granted under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Act 2023, Assistant District Magistrate Damanjit Singh Mann has issued various restriction orders in Ferozepur district, which will remain in force for two months.
According to the orders issued by the Assistant District Magistrate, mining activities are completely banned in Ferozepur district from 5 PM to 6 AM to curb illegal mining.
In another order, the sale of Schedule H, H-1, and X category drugs has been restricted. Pharmacies and chemist shops selling these medicines have been instructed to install CCTV cameras on their premises.
In compliance with the directions passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition (Civil No. 36/2009), the Assistant District Magistrate has also imposed a ban on boring or deepening of borewells without permission due to the danger of people and children falling into open borewells during digging or repairs in urban and rural areas.
As per the issued guidelines:
- Landowners must notify the District Collector, B.D.P.O., relevant Gram Panchayat, Municipal Council, Public Health Department, and Ground Water Department 15 days in advance before digging.
- They must also provide the name and registration number of the borewell drilling agency, along with the name and address of landowners around the drilling site.
- The borewell site must be fenced with barbed wire and covered with a steel plate fixed using nuts and bolts.
- A cement/concrete platform must be built around the borewell, 0.30 meters below and 0.30 meters above ground level.
- After digging or repairing a borewell or well, any open space must be filled with soil, and the land must be leveled to its original state.
- Under no circumstances should a well or borewell be left open.
These guidelines and restrictions will be enforced for two months, and strict action will be taken against those who violate them.
