Students in Punjab and Chandigarh Return Home Amid Rising India-Pakistan Tensions

Ludhiana 09 May 2025 : Due to the escalating tension between India and Pakistan, the Punjab government issued orders late Thursday night to close all schools, colleges, and universities for the next three days. This has caused concern among parents whose children are studying in various cities at higher educational institutions.

In light of the current situation, several higher educational institutions in Punjab and Chandigarh have postponed their ongoing semester exams for a few days. Following this decision, students residing in hostels and PG accommodations have started packing their bags and heading home. While the Punjab and Chandigarh administrations are closely monitoring the situation and providing updates for local residents, parents have been worried about the safety of their children since the increased tension last night.

As soon as the higher educational institutions in Chandigarh and other parts of Punjab postponed their exam schedules, parents immediately called their children back home. It is worth noting that students from not only Punjab but also from Himachal, Haryana, Jammu, Bihar, UP, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh are staying away from home to study various courses at these institutions.

Students say that they will return once the universities release a new exam schedule, but for now, it seems safer to go home to their parents.

Summary: Due to escalating India-Pakistan tensions, students from Punjab and Chandigarh are returning home, with many leaving hostels and colleges in fear of the ongoing conflict.
