Sunjay Kapur’s Sister Mandhira Alleges: “Samaira Is His Daughter, Not Safira” Amid Will Dispute

November 20, 2025  : The inheritance battle over late businessman Sunjay Kapur has taken a highly personal turn, with his sister Mandhira Kapur publicly accusing her brother’s third wife, Priya Sachdev, of attempting to “rewrite lineage.” On a recent podcast, Mandhira asserted that Samaira, Sunjay’s child with Karisma Kapoor, is his biological daughter — while his stepdaughter Safira, Priya’s child from a prior relationship, has been inaccurately cast in his will as his daughter.

According to Mandhira, the will submitted to court raises serious questions. “Safira has been called the daughter in the will,” she said, “but Samaira is the real daughter. Safira is the stepdaughter — her biological father, Vikram Chatwal, is still alive.”She further argued that Priya is sidelining Sunjay’s true bloodline in favour of her own children.

Mandhira has not minced words, calling the will “suspicious” and accusing Priya of erasing Samaira’s rightful place in the family. “Stop rewriting lineage,” she implored, claiming that Priya’s changes are not just administrative errors but a deliberate attempt to exclude Sunjay’s biological heirs.

The sisters’ feud has now moved to the courtroom. Mandhira backed Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, in their legal challenge, alleging that Priya may have forged Sunjay’s will to favour her own children. She even raised doubts about errors in the document — including misspellings and incorrect pronouns — claiming these are deliberate “giveaways,” not just typos.

In addition to challenging the legitimacy of the will, Mandhira has accused Priya of financial impropriety. She claimed that Priya has “robbed” Samaira and Kiaan of what she believes is rightfully theirs, even alleging that Priya is withholding essential funds — including tuition fees.

Mandhira’s outspokenness is tied to a much larger legacy dispute. The Kapur family estate — reportedly worth ₹30,000 crore — is now deeply enmeshed in litigation. She has also accused Priya of disenfranchising their elderly mother, Rani Kapur, claiming the family is being “stripped” of what belongs to their lineage.

The high-stakes court battle has prompted the Delhi High Court to issue notices to Priya and the alleged executor of the will, Shraddha Suri Marwah, asking for their responses within a few weeks. Meanwhile, Mandhira has declared her intention to fight “till the end,” arguing that the future of Sunjay’s legacy depends on upholding what she calls his true bloodline.

As the legal drama intensifies, the family’s deeply personal conflict plays out publicly, bringing issues of inheritance, legitimacy, and identity to center stage.

Summary

Sunjay Kapur’s sister Mandhira claims Samaira, not Safira, is his biological daughter, accusing his widow Priya Sachdev of tampering with the will to erase his true heirs.
