Supreme Court gives Punjab government an extra 3 days to respond regarding Dallewal case

Chandigarh, December 31, 2024: Farmer leader Jagjeet Dallewal, who has been on a hunger strike for 36 days at the Khonori border, has been denied hospital admission by the Punjab government. Dallewal, 70, is also suffering from cancer. In a hearing on December 28, the Supreme Court had given the Punjab government time until December 31 to take action.

Now, the Supreme Court has granted the Punjab government an additional 3 days to provide medical treatment for Dallewal. The next hearing will be on January 2. After the hearing, Dallewal stated that the Supreme Court is not directing the central government and is attempting to limit the issue to the state government, even though their demands are directed at the central government. The state cannot make significant contributions in making laws, as the MSP law can only be created by the central government.

Summary: Supreme Court grants Punjab government 3 more days to provide medical treatment to farmer leader Jagjeet Dallewal, who has been on hunger strike for 36 days.
