28 Aug 2026 (Navroze Bureau) : Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups witnessed a sharp drop in box-office collections on its second day, earning around ₹36.40 crore net in India on Thursday, according to Sacnilk figures cited by multiple reports.
64% Drop After ₹101 Crore Opening
The film had delivered a massive opening of approximately ₹101.10 crore net on Day 1. Its Day 2 collection represents a decline of about 64%, taking its two-day domestic net total to around ₹137.50 crore.
Toxic recorded around 26.6% occupancy across 19,413 shows on Thursday, considerably lower than the opening-day momentum.
‘Dhurandhar 2’ Remains Far Ahead
The Day 2 figures have also put Toxic behind Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the Ranveer Singh-led sequel directed by Aditya Dhar.
Dhurandhar 2 reportedly collected ₹80.72 crore on its second day, more than twice Toxic’s ₹36.40 crore. The sequel had already crossed ₹226 crore net in India in its first two days.
Hindi Version Leads ‘Toxic’ Collections
Interestingly, the Hindi version has emerged as the strongest contributor to Toxic’s domestic earnings.
On opening day, the Hindi version reportedly contributed around ₹55 crore, while the Kannada version, despite being the film’s original language, collected approximately ₹23.30 crore. Telugu also contributed significantly, while Tamil and Malayalam recorded lower numbers.
Strong Start, Weak Second Day
The contrast between the first two days has become a major talking point.
Toxic opened to more than ₹100 crore net in India and reportedly grossed around ₹140 crore worldwide on Day 1. The second-day fall suggests that the film may need strong weekend collections to rebuild momentum.
Mixed Response After Release
The film generated substantial pre-release anticipation, helped by Yash’s popularity and the success of the KGF franchise.
However, after release, Toxic received mixed reactions, with criticism directed at aspects including its depiction of violence and sensuality, while some viewers praised Yash’s performance and the film’s visual presentation.
Yash Leads a Star-Studded Cast
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic features Yash in dual roles and stars Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth.
The film is produced by Venkat K Narayana and Yash under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations LLP.
Weekend Hold Will Be Crucial
With the first weekend now underway, the next two days will be crucial for Toxic.
A strong recovery could offset some of the Day 2 decline, while another sharp fall would raise questions about the film’s ability to sustain its theatrical run despite its blockbuster opening.
