Firozpur, January 30, 2025 : A two-minute silence was observed to pay tribute to the great martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation and to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, at the local Saragarhi Park.
During this, Deputy Commissioner Deepashikha Sharma and SSP Soumya Mishra, along with police and civil administration officials and staff of the district, observed the two-minute silence and paid tribute to the great martyrs of the nation. Flowers were also offered to Mahatma Gandhi, the freedom fighter. On this occasion, a contingent of Punjab Police paid tribute to the martyrs by reversing their weapons.
Deputy Commissioner Deepashikha Sharma said that it is our collective duty to remember the sacrifices of the martyrs who gave their lives for the nation during India’s freedom struggle, without which our country would not have attained independence, and we would not be enjoying the freedom we have today. She emphasized the need to follow the path of mutual goodwill and non-violence shown by the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. She further stated that the true tribute we can offer to all the great freedom fighters and martyrs today is by preserving the freedom they earned through their sacrifices, contributing to the security and progress of the nation, and being ready to offer our best for the country’s welfare.
On this occasion, SP (D) Randhir Kumar, SP (H) Naveen Kumar, Dharawat Sai Prakash IPS (Under Training), DSP Sukhvinder Singh, DSP Arun Mundan, DSP (C&W) Rajbir Singh, DSP Fateh Singh Brar, District Education Officer Munila Arora, Secretary Red Cross Ashok Behl, and various other officials and staff from the police, civil administration, and other departments were present.
