5 Aug 2025 : Now, there is no need for fingerprint identification or the hassle of OTPs to do banking at the post office. India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has launched Aadhaar-based face authentication service across the country, allowing customers to open accounts, check balance, send money, and pay bills just by using their face.
This service will be especially useful for those who face issues with fingerprint recognition or the OTP system. It will be a big relief for senior citizens, people with disabilities, and citizens living in remote rural areas.
The face authentication system has been developed as per the standards of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). It is completely contactless and secure, further strengthening the Digital India campaign.
According to IPPB, this service will soon be available at 1.6 lakh post offices across the country and through over 3 lakh postal employees. This is part of the mission “Your Bank, at Your Doorstep” aimed at deepening financial inclusion.
In situations like pandemics or health emergencies where physical contact should be avoided, this face authentication technology will help make banking safer, faster, and more accessible for everyone.
Summary:
Starting August 2025, all post offices in India will support UPI payments via dynamic QR codes, replacing traditional cash-based postal transaction methods.
