Chandigarh 15 Sep 2025: After floodwaters receded in Punjab, the government has now launched relief and restoration work in mission mode. Led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the special health campaign, which began on 14th September, is setting a new benchmark in the state. This is the largest-ever initiative to provide health services simultaneously across 2,303 flood-affected villages in Punjab. Where people earlier had to visit hospitals repeatedly for medicines, the government is now reaching village by village, house by house.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is personally overseeing this campaign. Cabinet ministers, MLAs, district party in-charges, and volunteer health teams are on the ground. Camps are being set up in every village where doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and nursing students are treating people from morning to evening. In villages without hospitals or health centers, schools, panchayat buildings, or anganwadis have been converted into temporary medical centers. Each camp is stocked with essential medicines, ORS, fever tablets, dengue and malaria test kits, and first-aid kits. ASHA workers are conducting door-to-door health checks. The government aims to ensure that by 20th September, every household is visited at least once by a health team. Camps are being held even on Sundays to achieve this.
Strict Monitoring of Mosquito-Borne Diseases
To control dengue and malaria, continuous fogging will be carried out in the state for the next 21 days. Teams are checking water sources in every house, and wherever there is a risk of disease, immediate spraying is being done. More than 550 ambulances and stock of 85 essential medicines are already prepared. Doctors and nursing staff from major hospitals are actively participating in the campaign. Across Punjab’s villages, the sentiment among people is unanimous – “It’s not just the government, it’s our trust… we stand fully with Bhagwant Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party.”
Summary : Following recent floods, the Punjab government announced continued relief actions and rehabilitation measures for affected residents, ensuring support and recovery efforts remain in place until September 20.
