CM Mann Issues Direct Warning to Punjab’s Officers and Employees

Chandigarh/Jalandhar 24 Sep 2025: Claiming that farmers have not faced any problems in selling their crops during the past three years, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that, just like in previous years, the Punjab government will once again ensure smooth and timely procurement in the state this year as well. He warned that if any farmer faces any difficulty, strict action will be taken against the concerned officials.

Reviewing the ongoing procurement operations in the state during a meeting on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said that while the state government is making every possible effort to ensure smooth and speedy procurement of paddy, farmers are also being paid on time. He made it clear that farmers in Punjab should not face any trouble in selling their crops in the mandis. Paddy procurement began on September 15, and extensive arrangements have already been made for the purchase of 175 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. Advocating for seamless procurement, the Chief Minister assured that every single grain of paddy produced by the hard-working Punjabi farmers will be purchased. He directed the state procurement agencies to remain fully prepared for the current season.

For the Kharif procurement season 2025-26, the Punjab Mandi Board has notified 1,822 regular procurement centers. All notified mandis have been allotted to the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs, Punjab. The Chief Minister also appealed to farmers to bring their paddy to the mandis only after properly drying it. Reiterating the state government’s firm commitment to paddy procurement, he said that he will personally monitor the entire procurement process to ensure that farmers do not face any inconvenience. The government has already taken several exemplary steps to make the procurement process in Punjab more transparent and efficient.
