EPFO 3.0: PF Account Holders to Get ATM Withdrawal Facility Soon

26 Sep 2025 : Good news for both government and private sector employees! Soon, you will be able to withdraw money directly from your Provident Fund (PF) account through ATMs. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is preparing to roll out this facility under its new initiative, EPFO 3.0. However, you may need to wait until January 2026 for this service to begin.

What is EPFO 3.0?
This is a new initiative aimed at making the PF system as simple and accessible as banking. In March 2025, Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had announced that EPFO 3.0 would provide ATM withdrawal services for PF accounts. Reports suggest that all IT-related preparations have already been completed. The Central Board of Trustees (CBT), the apex decision-making body of EPFO, is expected to approve this proposal in its next meeting, paving the way for the launch of this scheme.

What other changes will come under EPFO 3.0?
Apart from ATM withdrawals, EPFO 3.0 will bring several other major improvements to make PF management easier:

  • Faster PF withdrawals: The claim settlement process will be fully automated, ensuring quicker access to your money.
  • Easy online updates: Any corrections or updates in your PF account can be done online from home, without visiting the office.
  • OTP-based verification: Lengthy paperwork will no longer be required, as all changes will be verified securely via OTP.
  • Social security integration: EPFO may integrate with other government schemes such as the Atal Pension Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, extending social security benefits even to unorganised sector workers.

Summary:
In a major update under EPFO 3.0, provident fund account holders will soon be able to withdraw money directly from ATMs. The facility is expected to roll out shortly.
