Health Department Intensifies Dengue and Malaria Prevention: Dr. Navdeep Kaur

Bassi Pathana 26 Sep 2025 : Under the directions of Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, the guidance of Civil Surgeon Fatehgarh Sahib Dr. Arvinder Pal Singh, and the leadership of Senior Medical Officer Dr. Navdeep Kaur, employees of the Health Department made people aware of dengue, malaria, and diseases caused by contaminated water.

Giving further details, Dr. Navdeep Kaur said that during the rainy season, water often gets collected in streets and drains, and when water stands for several days in flowerpots, coolers, tires, pitchers, fridge back trays, playgrounds, etc., it leads to the breeding of mosquitoes, which spread dengue and malaria.

For prevention, stagnant water sources should be destroyed or kerosene oil should be poured. The Health Department has designated one day a week, Friday, as “Dry Day Friday,” when all water containers should be dried out.

She said that if anyone experiences symptoms such as fever with chills, headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle pain, red rashes on the body, or bleeding from the nose or mouth, they should immediately seek medical treatment as per a doctor’s advice.

She further added that health teams are conducting awareness drives by visiting homes, slum areas, institutions, and schools, organizing group meetings, distributing pamphlets, and through press coverage by the Mass Media Wing to spread information about disease prevention and treatment.

Summary:
Dr. Navdeep Kaur highlighted the Health Department’s ongoing activities to prevent dengue and malaria, including awareness drives, fogging operations, and community engagement for effective disease control.
