Rahul Shines as India Seal Series Sweep Against West Indies

October 14, 2025: Team India completed a 2-0 series sweep over the West Indies after a commanding performance in the second Test, led by KL Rahul’s unbeaten half-century that anchored the chase on Day 4.

Chasing a modest target of 182 runs, India reached the mark comfortably at 183 for 3, thanks to Rahul’s composed 68 not out, supported by Shubman Gill’s fluent 45. The duo steadied the innings after early jitters, displaying maturity and precise shot selection against a disciplined West Indies bowling attack.

Earlier in the match, India’s bowlers set up the victory by bundling out the hosts for 215 in their second innings, with Jasprit Bumrah (4/41) and Ravindra Jadeja (3/56) sharing seven wickets between them. Their combined effort ensured the West Indies could not build on their promising start on Day 3.

Rahul, who returned to the Test side after recovering from injury, showcased patience and control throughout his innings. His knock came off 120 deliveries and included eight boundaries, marking his first Test fifty since his comeback. Speaking after the win, Rahul said, “It feels great to contribute to the team’s success. The focus was on batting deep and keeping things simple.”

Captain Rohit Sharma praised his side’s all-round performance, highlighting the consistency shown by both batters and bowlers across the two-match series. “It’s been a complete team effort. Everyone stepped up when needed — from the new ball bowlers to the middle order. That’s what Test cricket is about,” Rohit said at the post-match presentation.

For the West Indies, opener John Campbell and skipper Shai Hope were the standout performers, scoring 103 and 76 respectively in their first innings, but the lack of support from the middle order proved costly once again.

With this victory, India extended their unbeaten streak against the West Indies in Test cricket to 15 consecutive matches, further consolidating their position at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) standings.

The Indian team now shifts focus to the upcoming three-match T20I series, where several young players are expected to be given opportunities as the management experiments with combinations ahead of next year’s ICC events.

Summary
KL Rahul’s unbeaten 68 guided India to a comfortable win over the West Indies, securing a 2-0 Test series sweep and maintaining their dominance in the World Test Championship.
