The sacrifice made by Shaheed Udham Singh for India’s freedom will continue to inspire generations of Indians. It is because of the supreme sacrifices of such great martyrs that we are able to enjoy the blessings of freedom today.
These views were expressed by Bassi Pathana MLA Rupinder Singh Happy while paying floral tributes at the memorial of Shaheed Udham Singh near Roza Sharif on the occasion of the martyr’s 86th martyrdom anniversary.
He said that Shaheed Udham Singh was a great patriot who avenged the brutal massacre of unarmed and innocent people in the Jallianwala Bagh by taking revenge against those responsible in England. He added that the freedom enjoyed by the nation today has been made possible only because of the sacrifices of countless martyrs and freedom fighters. By eliminating those responsible for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, Shaheed Udham Singh sent a powerful message that Indians would never bow before oppression.
The MLA further said that it is the duty of every citizen to follow the path shown by the country’s great martyrs and live by their ideals. He also urged the younger generation to draw inspiration from the lives of these national heroes and actively contribute to the progress and development of the nation and society.
