Malerkotla, August 15:
Under the Student Police Cadet (SPC) Scheme, 40 students from schools across the district participated with great enthusiasm, discipline and patriotic spirit in the district-level Independence Day celebrations held at Dr. Zakir Hussain Stadium, Malerkotla, on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day. The students attended the event in their khaki uniforms.
On the occasion, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh honoured the Student Police Cadets for their disciplined, impressive and inspiring presence. Deputy Commissioner Viraj S. Tidke and SSP Gurmeet Singh were also present during the felicitation ceremony.
Praising the students, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said that the future of the nation is strengthened not only through academic knowledge but also through discipline, responsibility, patriotism and social sensitivity. He said that the Student Police Cadet Scheme is an important platform for instilling in children respect for the law, awareness about staying away from drugs, road safety, cyber awareness and a sense of responsibility as citizens.
On the occasion, the students witnessed the national flag salute, parade, cultural performances and other patriotic activities. Their participation in an important occasion like Independence Day further strengthened their sense of pride and duty towards the nation.
District Coordinator Prem Singh said that being honoured by the Cabinet Minister was a matter of pride as well as a great source of inspiration for the Student Police Cadets. He said that on this occasion, the students pledged to continue following the path of discipline, honesty and social service in the future.
Deputy Commissioner Viraj S. Tidke said that such active participation by young people lays the foundation for a responsible, disciplined and strong society.
