20 Aug 2026 (Navroze Bureau) : Punjab’s Working President and MLA Sherry Kalsi has been continuously meeting people and working to resolve their problems. As part of this initiative, Mayor of Batala Municipal Corporation Bhupinder Singh Bajwa and Chairman Manik Mehta visited Gandhi Nagar Camp, where they met residents, listened to their concerns and took steps to resolve their problems.
Speaking on the occasion, they said that under the leadership of Punjab’s Working President and MLA Sherry Kalsi, the problems faced by city residents are being addressed. They added that over the past nearly four and a half years, various development projects have been carried out in Batala city, significantly transforming its overall appearance.
They said that the responsibility entrusted to them by the people of Batala is being fulfilled through round-the-clock public service. Long-pending demands of residents are being addressed, while efforts are being made to meet people personally and resolve their grievances and difficulties.
Talking about the development works carried out in Batala, they said that under the leadership of MLA Sherry Kalsi, roads and intersections in the city have been widened to improve traffic and transportation facilities. Traffic lights and CCTV cameras have also been installed. Various intersections have been widened and given an improved and attractive appearance.
They further said that a new library building has been constructed, replacing the old structure, which was in a very poor condition. A magnificent clock tower has also been installed and constructed at the Sukha Singh–Mehtab Singh Chowk.
Development work has also been undertaken to provide the residents of the city with clean and safe drinking water. In addition, several other development projects are currently in progress.
