Fatehgarh Sahib, August 24:
The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, is working with full dedication to provide the people of Punjab with quality basic infrastructure, better transportation facilities, and modern urban amenities for development. These views were expressed today by Fatehgarh Sahib MLA Advocate Lakhbir Singh Rai while laying the foundation stone for a steel bridge to be constructed over the Buchre-Narwana Canal at a cost of approximately ₹5 crore.
MLA Rai said that due to the narrow, 70-year-old bridge, residents of nearby villages had been facing considerable difficulties while commuting. He said that the problem would soon be resolved. The new bridge is expected to be completed within approximately six months, after which people will no longer face difficulties while crossing it by vehicle.
He emphasized that once the bridge is completed, during the Shaheedi Sabha days, vehicles carrying devotees will be able to reach Sri Fatehgarh Sahib via Patiala Road without any difficulty.
MLA Rai said that traffic from the bridge connects to Chanarthal Kalan, Badhauchikalan, Kharora Kharori, Nabipur, and Patiala Road. He added that no shortage of development works would be allowed in the Sri Fatehgarh Sahib constituency.
He said that the Punjab Government is giving priority to quality in every development project and that no compromise on quality would be tolerated. He directed the officials to ensure that all development works are completed according to the prescribed standards and within the stipulated time frame, so that people can benefit from these projects as soon as possible.
SDO Krishan Gopal Gill, Kulwinder Singh Dera, Balkar Singh Nabipur, Bikramjit Singh, Balbir Singh Cheema, and others were also present on the occasion.
