Operation Sampark: Punjab Police Cracks Down on Drugs

Bathinda, 3rd February Under the leadership of Chief Minister of Punjab, S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government has launched an intensified campaign against drugs. As part of the monthly “Operation Sampark” initiative, the Bathinda police and civil administration are continuously conducting operations to curb drug use. This information was shared by District Police Chief, Madam Amneet Koundal.

On this occasion, Madam Amneet Koundal explained that in order to eliminate drugs completely, the Punjab government has launched the “Self Punjab Anti-Drug Help Line” WhatsApp chatbot number 97791-00200. Whenever a complaint related to drugs is received, action is taken on a priority basis.

She further explained that regular meetings are being held in various villages, towns, and cities of the district to educate the youth and drug-affected individuals about the harmful effects of drugs. She informed that during January 2025, Bathinda Police conducted 61 meetings across various villages as part of Operation Sampark. Additionally, officials from the joint center visited several schools and higher educational institutions and conducted 26 seminars to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drugs.

To raise awareness about the harmful effects of drugs, nearly 600 posters/flexes related to drugs have been put up in public places such as government offices, bus stands, railway stations, police pickets in the city, main squares, religious places, and other crowded areas.

The District Police Chief also mentioned that 53 drug-related complaints have been received so far, out of which 51 have been resolved, 2 are under progress, and a case has been registered at the Nathana police station for 1 complaint.
