Punjab, 30 April 2025 : Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is in action mode regarding the growing drug issue in the state. The government has launched a war on drugs. Meanwhile, Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav has issued a strict order and given an ultimatum. Confirming the commitment of the CM-led government to make the state ‘drug-free Punjab,’ the DGP gave a tough ultimatum to district police chiefs on Tuesday, ordering them to eliminate the availability of drugs at the ground level by 31 May. He stated that failure to comply would result in accountability up to the Station House Officer (SHO) level.
On Tuesday, the DGP chaired a high-level meeting with Special DGP Internal Security R.N. Dhoke, AGP Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Neelabh Kishore, and ADGP Law and Order Naresh Arora, along with police Inspectors General of Police (IGP)/Deputy Inspectors General (DIG) from all ranges, and Police Commissioners/Senior Superintendents of Police (CP/SSP). They were directed to make the current action plan for the complete eradication of narcotics in the state fully effective.
