AAP Government Takes Strict Action Against Drugs

May 19, 2025: After the launch of the Drug-Free March in Punjab by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to eradicate drugs from the state, now all ministers and MLAs of AAP Punjab have also swung into action. Today, all ministers and MLAs of Punjab organized Drug-Free Marches at 351 locations across all 117 assembly constituencies to raise awareness among people about drug abuse. More than two lakh people participated in these events, collectively raising their voice against drugs.

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema held drug de-addiction marches at various locations in his Dirba constituency and took part in related programs. Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Dhaliwal led the march in Ajnala constituency and addressed the public at various spots. Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO launched the anti-drug campaign in Jandiala constituency. Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan held a march in Kotkapura, and Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rouri led the march in Garhshankar.

Similarly, Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat met people in different wards of Jalandhar West and spread awareness against drug abuse. Dr. Rajwot Singh led the march in Sham Chaurasi, Tarunpreet Singh Sondh in Khanna, Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian in Sahnewal, Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak in Bhoa, and Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh led the Drug-Free March in various villages of Patiala Rural constituency. In addition, Minister Harjot Singh Bains conducted a march in Anandpur Sahib along with party workers and officials. MLA Barinder Goyal held programs at various places in Lehra, Gurmeet Singh Khuddian in Lambi, MLA Baljit Kaur in Malout, and Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar participated in the drug de-addiction program in Patti.

Pledge to Stay Away from Drugs

During the Drug-Free Marches, ministers and MLAs appealed to the public to actively participate in the government’s mission to eradicate drugs from the state. They also held public meetings in their respective constituencies, where villagers, in the presence of sarpanches, took an oath to refrain from drug use and stand against drug abuse.

Summary: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has implemented stringent measures to combat drug abuse and trafficking, aiming to create a safer and drug-free society.
