Kiratpur Sahib, 22 May 2025 : The development projects undertaken in Punjab’s government schools are now visibly showcasing an educational revolution to the public. Today, development works worth Rs. 149.71 lakhs were inaugurated, and other development works worth crores are currently underway in these schools and are expected to be completed soon. More grants worth crores will soon be provided to these village schools, equipping all government schools with modern facilities.
Harjot Singh Bains, Minister of Education, Information and Public Relations Punjab announce while addressing locals, students, and parents after inaugurating development works worth Rs. 17 lakhs at PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Massewal. He also reviewed other ongoing projects in the school worth several lakhs.
The Education Minister stated that among the schools inaugurated today, Government Primary School, Jeowal: Holistic Plan – Rs. 40 lakhs, Government Primary School, Massewal: Repairs – Rs. 7.51 lakhs, Government Primary School, Cheekna: Repairs – Rs. 7.64 lakhs, Government Primary School, Baruwal: Repairs – Rs. 7.51 lakhs, Government Primary School, Daboora (Lower): Boundary wall – Rs. 18 lakhs, Repairs – Rs. 2.55 lakhs, Government Primary School, Majher: Boundary wall – Rs. 60,000, Repairs – Rs. 2.55 lakhs, Government Primary School, Daboora (Upper): Boundary wall – Rs. 2 lakhs, Repairs – Rs. 2.55 lakhs, Government Primary School, Moda: Boundary wall – Rs. 13.4 lakhs. He further shared that Rs. 17 lakhs were spent on the renovation of the Government Senior Secondary School, Massewal, and about Rs. 9 lakhs on the boundary wall at Government Middle School, Daboora (Lower).
Additionally, government schools have now been equipped with facilities such as security guards, campus managers, transport, Wi-Fi, science labs, libraries, furniture, staff rooms, classrooms, offices, ramps, and other modern amenities – facilities that were previously only found in convent or model schools.
Mr. Bains noted the rising number of girl students in schools. In Massewal School, there are now 321 girl students compared to 312 boys. He mentioned that a “School of Happiness” has been introduced in Lakher so that children from the hilly Changer area no longer need to travel far for quality education. He also stated that a “School of Eminence” is being constructed in Kiratpur Sahib at a cost of Rs. 12 crore.
Regarding health infrastructure, the government is spending crores of rupees in Kiratpur Sahib. A major gift to the people of Changer is the construction of an 18-foot-wide road from Tarapur to Massewal for smooth travel. The roadwork from Tarapur to Samlah is progressing on a war footing, and construction from Massewal to Samlah will begin soon.
The Education Minister stated that the renovation and widening of several roads in the constituency will commence soon, as all necessary processes have been completed. He emphasized that, with the blessings of the Guru Sahib, Punjab’s Bhagwant Mann government is fully committed to the development of the state. He added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the battle to save water has been won, and now this water will reach the fields and the Changer area, making the region more prosperous.
On this occasion, the Education Minister was also specially honored by the locals present for the inauguration of various school development projects.
