Punjab Issues New COVID-19 Guidelines Amid Rising Concerns

Bathinda, 27 May 2025 : Speaking about COVID-19, Acting Civil Surgeon Dr. Ramandeep Singla appealed to the public that the current COVID variant is mild, and there is no need to panic. He referred to a video message released on social media by Health Minister Dr. Balveer Singh, in which the minister assured the citizens of the state that there is no need to worry about the COVID-19 J.N.-1 variant in Punjab, as this variant is generally mild, and so far, no new cases related to it have been reported in Punjab.

He stated that the state’s healthcare system is fully prepared. Testing facilities are available in government hospitals, and teams equipped with necessary medicines, oxygen, and scientific expertise have been deployed. Monitoring is ongoing in all districts, with continuous testing to identify any potential cases promptly and provide immediate treatment.

Although the situation is under control, he advised people to remain vigilant. He urged anyone experiencing cold, cough, fever, or difficulty breathing to immediately get tested at the nearest health center or hospital. He also appealed to people to stay cautious, avoid rumors, and rely only on information from official sources.
