Deputy Commissioner Advocates Skill Training for Youth Who Quit Drugs

Bathinda,13 June 2025: As part of the ongoing state government campaign ‘War Against Drugs’, it has been emphasized that youth who have quit drug addiction should be provided skill-based training according to their interests and abilities. This will help make them employable and support their reintegration into society. These directives were issued by Deputy Commissioner Mr. Shaukat Ahmad Pare during a meeting on Skill Development, where he guided officials from relevant departments.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner instructed officials that the Punjab government is giving special priority to empowering the youth with employment and self-employment opportunities. He stressed that camps should be regularly organized across the district to provide such opportunities to young men and women.

District Program Management Unit representative Ms. Gagan Sharma informed the Deputy Commissioner that proposals have already been sent to the headquarters of the Punjab Skill Development Mission to provide training to individuals who have quit drugs. These trainings will be conducted through RSETI (Rural Self Employment Training Institute), Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Agricultural Science Center), and rehabilitation centers.

Officials and representatives from various departments were also present at the meeting.
