13 June 2025 : In many areas of Punjab, temperatures have crossed 46 degrees Celsius, severely affecting daily life. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heatwave conditions in 8 districts of the state. Along with the heatwave, night temperatures in these districts are also expected to remain high. However, there is some relief as changes in the weather are being forecasted in the coming days. Due to an active western disturbance, some areas may experience thunderstorms and light rainfall.
Red alert has been issued for the following districts:
Faridkot, Fazilka, Muktsar, Bathinda, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Mansa, and Ferozepur due to extreme heat. Bathinda has become the hottest location in the state, where the temperature reached 46.8 degrees Celsius on Thursday. Besides this, cities like Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Patiala are also experiencing intense heat.
Relief may come soon:
According to the Meteorological Department, on June 14 and 15, there is a possibility of rain with strong winds in some parts of Punjab. Additionally, till June 18, warnings have been issued for lightning, strong winds (40–50 km/h), and dust storms in several areas. This may bring a slight drop in temperatures.
