ADC Reviews NCORD Committee’s Drug Prevention Efforts

Malerkotla, 24 April  –The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sukhpreet Singh Sidhu, chaired a district-level meeting under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) to review the steps taken to prevent drug abuse in the district. During this meeting, key officials including SP (D) Satpal Sharma, SDM Harbans Singh, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Sazila Khan, District Sports Officer Gurdeep Singh, Excise Inspector Jaswinder Kaur, Agriculture Officer Kulbeer Singh, Education Department representatives, Principal Arti Gupta, and Head Master Sajad Ali, along with officials from various departments, were present.

During the meeting, the Additional Deputy Commissioner instructed the Education Department representatives to prioritize awareness activities about the harmful effects of drugs to make Punjab a drug-free state. He emphasized the importance of continuously conducting activities that would raise awareness in society to rid it of the devastating impact of drugs. He suggested organizing stage plays, skits, and other activities to effectively spread awareness about the dangers of drugs, particularly targeting the youth.

He also directed them to include health and police officials in these activities to provide information about treatment options (OT Centers), rehabilitation centers, and the legal actions being taken against drug abuse. The goal of this initiative is to transform the anti-drug campaign into a public movement that effectively combats the drug menace.
