Malerkotla, August 7:
As part of the preparations for the district-level Independence Day celebrations to be held on August 15, the first rehearsal of the cultural programme was conducted today at Dr. Zakir Hussain Stadium, Malerkotla. Students from various schools and educational institutions rehearsed performances based on patriotism, Punjabi culture, and folk arts.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Rimpy Garg reviewed the rehearsal and provided necessary suggestions to improve the arrangements and enhance the quality of the performances.
Speaking on the occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner said that Independence Day is an important occasion to remember the sacrifices made by the martyrs for the unity, integrity, and freedom of the nation. She said that the cultural programme to be presented by the students during the district-level celebration would showcase patriotism as well as Punjab’s rich cultural heritage.
She instructed school heads and programme coordinators to ensure that students continue regular practice so that their performances on Independence Day are presented in an impressive and well-coordinated manner.
She further informed that the second rehearsal of the cultural programme will be held on August 11, while the full dress rehearsal is scheduled for August 13. The event will also feature a march-past by contingents of the Police, Home Guards, NCC, and bands from various schools. Cultural performances such as Giddha, Bhangra, and other patriotic presentations will be among the major attractions of the celebration.
Among those present on the occasion were District Deputy Education Officer Kamlesh, Principal Aarti Gupta, Head Teacher Rajveer Kaur, Dr. Saleem Zubairi, and representatives from various schools.
Students from KMRD Jain College (Girls), Modern College of Education, Ranwan, Sita Grammar School, Sohrab Public School, DAV Public School, Aman Vatika High School, Islamia Senior Secondary School (Boys), Government Senior Secondary School (Boys), Delhi Gate, Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sarvhitkari Vidya Mandir, Sahibzada Fateh Singh Public School, Al-Falah Public Senior Secondary School, BMB Convent School, Jamalpura, Home for Blind School, Basant Valley High School, and several other educational institutions participated in the first rehearsal.
