Sri Hargobindpur Sahib/Batala, October 7:
A ‘Lok Milni’ programme was organized in Kotli Lehal village in the Sri Hargobindpur Sahib Assembly constituency under the leadership of former MLA and senior leader Balwinder Singh Laddi. During the programme, health cards providing free treatment up to ₹10 lakh under the health insurance scheme were distributed. Women achievers from the village were also specially honoured on the occasion.
Women Morcha President Neelam Kotli Lehal, Sharanjit Kaur, Balwinder Kaur, Kanwaljit Kaur, Mamta, Manjit Kaur, Sukhjinder Singh, Gurvel Singh, Sabi Ghuman, Gurmeet Singh, Sarwan Singh, Gulzar Singh, Harwinder Singh and other Aam Aadmi Party workers were present.
Speaking on the occasion, Balwinder Singh Laddi said that the treatment coverage under the Mukh Mantri Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana was earlier limited to ₹5 lakh, which has been doubled to ₹10 lakh by the Mann government.
He said that one of the key features of the scheme is equal access for all. No income ceiling or other such condition has been imposed for availing the scheme, and every family in the state can benefit from it.
He said that Punjab government employees and pensioners are also covered under the scheme. More than 2,356 treatment packages are available at over 900 empanelled government and private hospitals in Punjab and Chandigarh. These include major procedures and treatments such as cancer care, heart-related treatments, dialysis, knee replacement, eye surgeries, kidney and liver transplants, as well as ICU facilities.
He said that in the present circumstances, a serious illness can push an ordinary family into a cycle of debt. The Punjab Government is working to ensure that no citizen of the state is deprived of necessary medical treatment due to financial constraints.
