Jalalabad/Fazilka, October 7:
Residents of Chak Khurang village whose properties fall within the Lal Lakir (red line) have been granted legal ownership rights under the ‘Mera Ghar Mere Naam’ scheme launched by the Punjab Government. Jalalabad MLA Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy distributed property cards to the beneficiaries.
MLA Goldy Kamboj said that the Punjab Government has granted ownership rights to these families and that the process would continue in phases across the Jalalabad Assembly constituency. He said the initiative has resolved challenges faced by residents living within the Lal Lakir for decades.
He said the initiative would restore the dignity and rights of residents while also opening up new economic opportunities for them. The scheme not only provides legal recognition of their properties but also enables residents to use their property as an asset for economic advancement.
He said the primary objective of the ‘Mera Ghar Mere Naam’ scheme is to provide ownership rights to people residing in houses located within the Lal Lakir. Those who have now received property rights will be able to sell their properties and obtain loans against their homes.
He said that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, remains firmly committed to strengthening the socio-economic security of people and resolving public grievances.
He said that under the ‘Mera Ghar Mere Naam’ scheme, drone surveys, mapping and door-to-door information collection were carried out. Following objections raised by villagers, fresh demarcation was conducted on the basis of revenue records.
He added that more property cards would be distributed under the scheme in the coming days.
