17 September 2026 (Navroze Bureau) : Hanuman Ansh, the spiritual drama inspired by the life and teachings of Neem Karoli Baba, has crossed the ₹300 crore mark in worldwide gross collections after completing 41 days in theatres.
Written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, the film has emerged as one of the year’s biggest surprise successes despite opening to modest numbers and being made on a reported budget of around ₹1.75 crore.
₹300 Crore Worldwide in 41 Days
According to figures cited from trade tracker Sacnilk, Hanuman Ansh reached approximately ₹300.25 crore worldwide after Day 41.
Its India gross collection stood at around ₹280 crore, while overseas earnings contributed approximately ₹20.25 crore. The film’s India net collection was reported at ₹237.13 crore.
Day 41 Collection Sees a Drop
The film collected around ₹6 crore net in India on Day 41, according to the latest reported estimates.
The figure represented a decline of about 27.3% from Day 40, when the film earned ₹8.25 crore. Despite the drop, the film continued to draw audiences during its sixth week.
From a ₹10 Lakh Opening to a ₹300 Crore Run
The film’s journey has been unusually dramatic.
Hanuman Ansh opened on August 7 with only around ₹10 lakh in India. Its first two weeks were weak, and its screen count reportedly fell sharply as newer releases entered theatres.
However, strong word of mouth gradually changed the film’s fortunes. Its shows and screen count increased significantly in subsequent weeks as audiences continued recommending the spiritual drama.
Word of Mouth Changed the Film’s Fate
After its slow opening, the filmmakers reportedly travelled to theatres and interacted with audiences to generate greater awareness about the film.
A notable turning point came when the team visited a theatre in Surat and received an encouraging response from viewers. The theatre subsequently increased the number of shows, contributing to the film’s wider revival.
Strong Sixth-Week Performance
The film’s momentum has continued well beyond its initial theatrical window.
On its sixth weekend, Hanuman Ansh reportedly earned ₹51.5 crore domestically over three days—₹10.5 crore on Friday, ₹18.5 crore on Saturday and ₹22.5 crore on Sunday.
The strong weekend performance helped the film maintain a significant presence despite competition from newer releases.
International Release Added to Collections
The film received a wider international release on September 11, giving its overseas collections a fresh boost.
The delayed overseas release helped add another revenue stream just as the movie was already enjoying an extended run in Indian theatres.
Inspired by Neem Karoli Baba
Hanuman Ansh tells a fictionalised cinematic account inspired by the life of Neem Karoli Baba, whose real name was Lakshman Narayan Sharma.
The story follows a grieving young Lakshmi Narayan as he searches for answers about life, death and suffering before embarking on a spiritual journey that ultimately leads him towards becoming the revered saint.
Shobhinaw Satyaa Leads the Cast
Shobhinaw Satyaa plays Neem Karoli Baba, while Vihaan Shedge portrays the character at another stage of his life.
The cast also includes Chandan K Anand, Purnima Tiwari, Anil K Rastogi, Gulshan Pandey and Bhagvandas Patel.
A Remarkable Low-Budget Success
The film’s reported budget of around ₹1.75 crore makes its worldwide gross particularly notable.
Based on the reported figures, the film has generated revenue many times its production cost, turning what initially appeared to be a small theatrical release into a major box-office success.
Competition Failed to Halt Its Run
The film has continued to perform strongly even after the arrival of several bigger releases.
Its extended theatrical run has allowed it to remain competitive with newer films and build a sizeable cumulative audience over more than six weeks.
A Rare Box-Office Turnaround
Hanuman Ansh is now notable not only for crossing ₹300 crore worldwide but also for the scale of its turnaround.
From a ₹10 lakh opening day to a ₹300.25 crore worldwide gross, the film’s journey has been driven largely by sustained audience interest and word of mouth rather than a conventional big-budget opening.
